Care & Cleaning
Fine jewelry lasts a lifetime with proper care. Follow these tips to keep your pieces looking their best.
Daily Wear
- •Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, or exercising.
- •Apply perfume, lotion, and hairspray before putting on jewelry.
- •Remove rings when washing dishes or using cleaning products.
- •Take off jewelry before bed to avoid bending prongs or chains.
Cleaning at Home
- •Soak gold and diamond jewelry in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 20–30 minutes.
- •Gently brush with a soft-bristle toothbrush, paying attention to the back of stones where dirt collects.
- •Rinse under warm running water (over a bowl, not the drain!) and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
- •For silver jewelry, use a silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish.
- •Never use toothpaste, baking soda, or harsh chemicals. They can scratch metal and damage stones.
Storage
- •Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined compartment to prevent scratching.
- •Keep jewelry away from direct sunlight and extreme heat.
- •Use anti-tarnish strips in your jewelry box for silver pieces.
- •Hang necklaces to prevent tangling. A simple hook or jewelry tree works well.
Watch Care
- •Wipe your watch with a soft cloth after wearing to remove oils and sweat.
- •Avoid exposing watches to extreme temperatures or magnetic fields.
- •Have water-resistant watches pressure-tested annually if you wear them near water.
- •Wind mechanical watches regularly, even when not wearing them.
